How can an outsider use the Jamia Polytechnic, Library?

Faculty, Students and researchers from Government education Institutions and organizations are allowed to refer the
Library against introduction letters from their respective institutions. An individuals affiliated to corporate bodies like
industries, can use the Library as Corporate Members. Although individuals are discouraged to make use of the Library,
they may contact the Head, Circulation for seeking permission for a limited period of time.

What types of documents are kept in the Reference Collection?

References collection mainly contains, encyclopedias, handbooks, dictionaries, directories, atlases, audio, video and some
rare collection

How can you distinguish reference books from other library collection?

Reference books are marked “R” and “RR” on left-side top corner on the front page of the book. 

Does the Library have facilities to view video cassettes?

Yes, video cassettes can be viewed in the reference section from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on all working days except holidays,
Saturdays and Sundays. Please contact, Incharge Reference Section.

Which bibliographic CD-ROM databases are available in the library?

See Multimedia Library.

Can I get the reference books issued?

Reference books are issued to faculty/equivalent project staff for three days and research scholar for one day from journals section counter.

What type of documents is kept in the Pamphlet Section?

Pamphlet section houses theses & dissertations, pamphlets, reports (including annual reports), standards, photocopies of journal articles, conference proceedings, patents, faculty publications etc.

Can we refer to M. Tech Dissertations/Ph.D. theses?

The Jamia Polytechnic, staff, students and Faculty can refer to M. Tech dissertations/Ph.D. theses. Outsiders
are not allowed to refer to dissertations and theses.

Can the dissertation/theses/standards be issued?

Standards/reports/pamphlets/photocopies are issued to faculty/equivalent project staff. Theses and dissertations are
not issued.

Is there a fine for late return of books?

Every category of member is required to pay late fee, as per the late fee structure, if he/she fails to return the books
within prescribed
period of time. All students can see their late fee details on library notice board.

Where can I pay Library dues?

Library dues (late fees/cost of books) can be paid in cash, at Library Cash Counter on the mezzanine floor of the Library.

What are the issue/return timings in the Library?

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on all working days and 11.00 A.M. to 1.00 P.M on Saturdays. No issue/return transactions on Sundays
and Holidays. Members desiring to return books on holidays can drop these books in DROP BOX kept near Security Checkpoint.

How can I use study room books?

All students can borrow one study room book against his/her I card for consultation within the Library and for overnight
issue one hour before the closing of the Library.

Can books be reserved if issued?

Yes, all members of the Library can reserve maximum 3 books. On one book 4 claims can be entertained at a time.

I have lost a book, what am I required to do?

Immediately declare the book as lost on prescribed application form. The latest procurement cost will be intimated to you,
to pay for the cost of book.

If I do not get the book on shelve what can I do?

First contact concerned staff responsible for shelving of books in that area. You may
also contact professionals in counter or In-charge, Circulation Section.

Can I bring my own book in the Library?

No, you are not allowed to bring the personal books in the Library. The Library has a Reading Room in Library basement
where you can go with your personal books.

How can you help in visiting other important libraries?

The Library will issue you an introductory letter that might help you to visit other Libraries.

Can the Library borrow documents from other libraries?

Yes, the Library can arrange books and copies of articles on inter-library loan from other libraries, If the request is routed
through guide / faculty.

Is it accessible E-RESOURCES by all the users?

No, access to e-resources is provided only to Jamia Polytechnic, students, faculty (including retired faculty) and staff within
the campus.

Is off campus access to E-RESOURCES available?

No

If, I do not get access to a particular E-RESOURCE, whom should I contact?

Please contact Current Periodical Section for help.

If, I do not know how to use a particular E-RESOURCE, what can I do?

Please contact Incharge, Periodical Section / Reference Section. They will provide you assistance /help in using e-resource
